Tree Planting Project – Ban La-ong, Ranong
Date: May 26, 2016
Location: Ban La-ong, Ranong Province
Introduction:
On May 26, 2016, the Andaman Natural Resources Conservation Foundation (ANRCF) carried out a special tree planting campaign in Ban La-ong, Ranong, in collaboration with local communities, government agencies, and the military. This activity formed part of the foundation’s long-term mission to restore degraded ecosystems, expand forest cover, and raise awareness of the importance of environmental conservation.

Event Highlights:
The planting activity was led by ANRCF President Mr. Samran Sinthong and Honorary President General Yosanan Hraicharoen, with participation from forestry officials and local residents. Hundreds of trees were planted in carefully selected areas, chosen to provide maximum ecological benefit by stabilizing soil, improving water retention, and creating habitats for local wildlife.

Why It Matters:
Ranong Province is home to rich ecosystems, including mangroves and mountain forests, that are essential for maintaining biodiversity and community resilience. However, unsustainable development, deforestation, and climate change continue to threaten these natural assets. Tree planting projects such as the Ban La-ong campaign provide tangible solutions by directly restoring degraded land and symbolically uniting people behind a common cause.

Impact:
The project expanded green cover in Ban La-ong, contributing to climate mitigation and ecological resilience. More importantly, it strengthened relationships between ANRCF, government agencies, the Royal Thai Army, and local citizens. By involving the community directly, the campaign helped instill a sense of shared responsibility for protecting forests and natural resources.
Conclusion:
The Ban La-ong tree planting project highlighted ANRCF’s holistic approach: combining ecological restoration with community engagement. Every tree planted represented not just environmental recovery, but also the unity of people committed to leaving behind a healthier, greener legacy for future generations.
ANRCF continues to carry out tree planting and reforestation initiatives throughout the Andaman region. We invite schools, businesses, and local groups to join these campaigns, proving that conservation is a responsibility we all share.
