Tree Planting in Honor of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit – Ranong
Date: August 18–19, 2016
Location: Ratchanarangsarit Camp, Infantry Battalion 2, 25th Infantry Regiment, Ranong Province
Introduction:
In August 2016, the Andaman Natural Resources Conservation Foundation (ANRCF) joined with local communities and military partners in Ranong Province to commemorate the 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. The event combined reverence for the monarchy with practical environmental action through a large-scale tree planting campaign at Ratchanarangsarit Camp.

Event Highlights:
The campaign was led by ANRCF President Mr. Samran Sinthong, Honorary President General Yosanan Hraicharoen, forestry officials, and military leaders. Over the course of two days, participants planted hundreds of native trees in designated areas of the camp. Local citizens, school groups, and soldiers worked side by side, demonstrating unity and dedication to both the Queen’s honor and the conservation cause.

Why It Matters:
The project symbolized two key values: respect for the monarchy and responsibility for the environment. Her Majesty Queen Sirikit has long been a patron of conservation and sustainable development, particularly in rural and coastal communities. By linking the campaign to her birthday anniversary, ANRCF reminded participants that environmental stewardship is an integral part of Thailand’s cultural and civic identity.
Impact:
The event expanded forest cover in Ranong, improved local biodiversity, and raised awareness about the importance of reforestation. It also fostered collaboration between civilian and military groups, proving that conservation is most effective when different sectors of society work together. The symbolic act of planting trees for the Queen also inspired participants to view conservation as both a national duty and a personal responsibility.
Conclusion:
The Tree Planting in Honor of Her Majesty the Queen campaign in Ranong demonstrated ANRCF’s ability to weave tradition, culture, and conservation into a unified message of stewardship. It honored the Queen’s contributions to sustainability while delivering tangible benefits for the Andaman region’s forests and communities.
ANRCF continues to honor Thailand’s royal philosophy of environmental care through reforestation and conservation projects. We invite communities, schools, and organizations to join future initiatives that blend cultural reverence with ecological action.
