Tree Planting at Thung Khai Botanical Garden – Trang
Date: May 23, 2016
Location: Thung Khai Botanical Garden, Trang Province
On May 23, 2016, the Andaman Natural Resources Conservation Foundation (ANRCF) carried out a reforestation project at Thung Khai Botanical Garden in Trang Province. This initiative formed part of the foundation’s continuing efforts to expand green areas, restore ecosystems, and raise awareness about the importance of protecting forests in southern Thailand.

Event Highlights:
The activity was led by ANRCF President Mr. Samran Sinthong, Honorary President General Yosanan Hraicharoen, and officials from the Department of National Parks. Community members and local organizations joined the effort, planting native tree species in designated areas within the botanical garden. The project was not only about restoring land, but also about engaging citizens and instilling environmental values across generations.
Forests are critical to Thailand’s environmental resilience, providing habitats for wildlife, regulating water systems, and acting as natural defenses against climate change. In Trang, rapid development and agricultural expansion have put pressure on ecosystems. By planting trees in a protected space like Thung Khai Botanical Garden, ANRCF reinforced the role of green areas as living classrooms and biodiversity reserves for the community.

The project added to Trang’s ecological resources, contributing to carbon absorption, biodiversity recovery, and climate adaptation. It also encouraged cooperation among public institutions, private organizations, and local citizens, strengthening the foundation for future conservation work.
The tree planting campaign at Thung Khai Botanical Garden exemplified ANRCF’s vision of combining conservation with education and community action. By turning tree planting into a participatory event, the foundation fostered environmental awareness while creating tangible ecological benefits.
ANRCF continues to expand reforestation programs across the Andaman region. We welcome partners, schools, and volunteers to take part in future campaigns to restore and protect Thailand’s forests.
