Tree Planting at Thale Ban National Park – Satun

Date: December 16, 2015
Location: Thale Ban National Park, Satun Province

Introduction:
On December 16, 2015, the Andaman Natural Resources Conservation Foundation (ANRCF) held a significant reforestation project at Thale Ban National Park in Satun Province. This activity formed part of the foundation’s early efforts to restore biodiversity across the Andaman region while mobilizing local communities, government agencies, and private sector partners in collective action.

Event Highlights:
The event brought together ANRCF President Mr. Samran Sinthong, Honorary President General Yosanan Hraicharoen, forestry officials, and local citizens. Participants worked side by side to plant native trees across designated areas of the park. The project emphasized not only tree planting, but also the importance of public awareness and collaboration in protecting natural habitats.

Why It Matters:
Satun, with its diverse ecosystems and rich cultural heritage, faces increasing threats from deforestation, coastal erosion, and unsustainable development. Reforestation projects like this play a critical role in restoring degraded areas, strengthening natural defenses against climate change, and preserving wildlife habitats. By engaging citizens directly, the project also nurtured a sense of shared responsibility for environmental conservation.

Impact:
The Thale Ban reforestation campaign expanded green cover in the park and created opportunities for knowledge exchange between experts, local leaders, and residents. It also reinforced ANRCF’s mission of linking conservation with community participation, showing that environmental restoration cannot succeed without grassroots involvement.

The tree planting project at Thale Ban National Park underscored ANRCF’s commitment to protecting ecosystems across the Andaman coast. By working together, communities and institutions can safeguard forests that provide not only biodiversity but also resilience and well-being for future generations.

ANRCF invites partners and volunteers to continue supporting reforestation projects throughout the Andaman region. Every tree planted is a step toward ecological recovery and long-term sustainability
