Save Andaman Turtles: Community Unites at Natai Beach, Phang Nga

On April 19–20, 2025, the Andaman Natural Resources Conservation Foundation (ANRCF) organized the Save Andaman Turtles event at Natai Beach Resort & Spa in Phang Nga. The two-day gathering brought together 150–300 participants, including local residents, youth groups, and international delegates, to raise awareness about marine conservation and the urgent need to protect sea turtles.

Event Highlights:

  • Turtle Release Ceremony: Hatchlings were released into the Andaman Sea to promote biodiversity and inspire conservation action.
  • Community Engagement: Local schools, volunteers, and tourists joined hands in beach cleanups and educational activities.
  • Cultural & Entertainment: The event featured a “Colorful Under the Sea” beachside dinner, live jazz music, and student performances.
  • Eco-Run & Cleanup: Participants joined the Good Morning Andaman 5km run, collecting trash along the beach and raising awareness for marine debris issues.

Why It Matters:
Sea turtles are a vital part of the Andaman’s marine ecosystem but face threats from plastic pollution, habitat loss, and overfishing. By bringing together communities, businesses, and government partners, this event fostered unity and showcased how conservation can blend with tourism and culture.

Together, we can give the Andaman’s turtles a fighting chance. 🌊🐢
