Phuket Comes Together: Big Cleaning Day Across 10 Iconic Beaches
From late 2019 through 2020, the Andaman Natural Resources Conservation Foundation (ANRCF) led a massive Big Cleaning Day initiative across 10 of Phuket’s most beautiful beaches. The campaign united schools, volunteers, government agencies, and tourists in a common mission: to tackle plastic pollution and preserve Phuket’s reputation as a world-class natural destination.

Event Highlights:
- 10 Beaches Covered: Cleanups were organized at Patong, Kata, Karon, Kamala, Surin, Nai Harn, and other iconic beaches.
- Community Engagement: Thousands of kilograms of plastic waste and debris were collected by local volunteers, students, and hotel partners.
- Education in Action: Schoolchildren and youth groups participated, learning first-hand about the impacts of single-use plastics and marine waste.
- Collaborations: Local government, private hotels, and eco-tourism businesses joined forces with ANRCF to amplify impact.

Why It Matters:
The Andaman coast faces a growing threat from plastic waste and marine litter. By mobilizing local communities and raising awareness, the Big Cleaning Day not only cleared waste but also built a culture of responsibility and environmental stewardship in Phuket.
Every cleanup makes a difference. Together, we can keep Phuket’s beaches clean and the Andaman Sea thriving. 🌊🧹
