Beekeeping Site Visit – Ao Tong, Trang
Date: May 23, 2016
Location: Ao Tong Subdistrict, Wang Wiset District, Trang Province
On May 23, 2016, the Andaman Natural Resources Conservation Foundation (ANRCF) conducted a site visit to a local beekeeping community in Ao Tong, Trang Province. This initiative reflected the foundation’s commitment not only to reforestation and marine conservation but also to supporting sustainable livelihoods that connect people with their environment.

Event Highlights:
The visit was led by ANRCF President Mr. Samran Sinthong and Honorary President General Yosanan Hraicharoen, accompanied by local leaders and forestry officials. Participants observed how community members manage small-scale beekeeping operations and integrate them into local economic and ecological systems.

Why It Matters:
Beekeeping is more than just an income-generating activity. Bees play a vital role in pollination, supporting biodiversity and the regeneration of forests and agricultural systems. By promoting and supporting local beekeeping, ANRCF highlighted the connection between environmental conservation and sustainable economic development.

Impact:
The site visit fostered dialogue between conservation leaders and local farmers, encouraging collaboration to strengthen community resilience. It also emphasized the role of traditional and local knowledge in maintaining ecological balance. This exchange demonstrated how conservation and livelihoods can complement one another when managed sustainably.
The beekeeping project visit in Trang showed how ANRCF broadens its mission beyond direct conservation activities to include support for sustainable community practices. By aligning local economies with environmental stewardship, the foundation helps ensure that conservation becomes part of everyday life.
ANRCF continues to explore ways to support eco-friendly community enterprises. Partnerships with local farmers, cooperatives, and organizations are welcome to expand sustainable practices across the Andaman region.
